Spontaneous Activity: what type are you ?

Over the years I have had two neigh­bors who exhib­ited two behav­iors. Both of these neigh­bors had, to me, the curi­ous prac­tice of stop­ping in their cars to empty their mail­boxes. They would drive home from work, stop their cars at their mail­boxes, empty them and drive into their garages. Strange, because their mail­boxes were only a short dis­tance from their doors. In addi­tion, I would almost never see these neigh­bors out­side play­ing with their dogs or chil­dren or walk­ing in the neighborhood.

What else do you think these neigh­bors shared in com­mon? They gained weight steadily dur­ing the years I watched them, one over the course of 6 years and the other over the course of about 4 year

I tend to do the exact reversal:

max­i­mize the amount of spon­ta­neous activ­ity I get from other activ­i­ties. This is my way of get­ting my intake of phys­i­cal activ­ity despite less and less time.

So when I have the choice between trans­porta­tion of some sort and walk­ing, I usu­ally walk if the addi­tional time is not more than 10 mins. I carry a brief­case instead of a back­pack because the brief­case allows me to exer­cise my arms and abs while walk­ing. I lift the brief­case when I walk, instead of just let­ting it hang at the end of my arm, because if I’m gonna walk a fair amount of time each day (I’m in Lon­don, it’s under­ground + walk for an hour every day), then I want to at least ben­e­fit from the lit­tle exer­cise I can get. By now, you get the idea ;-)
